"The greatest journey is heading back home."

Shot this film 2 years ago and for some odd reasons got lost around the cutting room floor. You might have seen some of these footage from my La Salle videos but this film project is exactly where they are meant to be. So here you go. After working on several films by other directors, finally finish one I can call my own. Hope you enjoy my little gift for you. :) Salamat.

Indie? Mainstream? You can brand our film, Patient X, whatever you like. But we made this for one reason and one reason only, to share with you one insane tale about Aswangs. We all believe you and your friends will have a thrill ride watching Patient X.

PATIENT X
Showing October 28, 2009 EVERYWHERE IN THE PHILIPPINES

Music Composer Nani Naguit and Film Editor Chuck Gutierrez take 5 during the first day of sound mixing at Wildsound Studio for Patient X

An integral part of any horror flick is the sound. The sound brings in more power and craziness to an already visually pumped genre film. With Patient X, I'm very thrilled to work with the best sound crew in the country today. Mike Idioma and the Wildsound boys are hard at work now in providing a Dolby Surround madness for Patient X.

But what makes working with sound special for me is I get the privilege to work with my long time collaborator and good friend, Nani Naguit in a major film project. He has been my only choice to do the music for my films in college. We have been through hell and back literally and figuratively. From shorts, experimentals and even personal films, we have done it all together for the love of cinema throughout the years. It is a thrill to have him on board in this film project and I'm very grateful for our director Yam Laranas in giving us this opportunity to work in a bigger cinematic stage.

We just finished laying in the music and I have to admit, I am even more excited to share this film with everyone come October 28.

Director Yam Laranas showing Actors Richard Gutierrez & Miriam Quiambao edited scenes during the principal photography of Patient X on a Blackberry.

Shoot on 35mm. Edit on a Mac Pro. E-mail to the director the sequences on the shoot. With the technology available today, it would be less difficult to rattle the foundation of Philippine cinema and set a brand new standard for making films here.

An award winning director said on CNN that Filipinos can never do a Hollywood film. That might be true in some aspect like we, Filipinos, cannot do Hollywood stories. But make no mistake about this little fact; we Filipinos can make films at par or even more advance compared with the Hollywood standard.

It's such a thrill to finally get very good copies of great Filipino films on DVD. This is absolute haven for cinema lovers. I finally completed my collection of Mike De Leon films and got the best works of Lino Brocka and Chito Roño. This is the perfect place to learn that Filipino films were once great and with burned DVD's at hand, anyone can be inspired to do something even better soon.

Visit Video48 at 48 West Ave. Quezon City. It's just near Mister Kebab. So after getting your doze of great cinemas, treat yourself with sharwarma and one ice cold glass of mango lassi!

PS. They have great action figures display too!
